Winter can be harsh, but these tips will help keep your pets cozy and protected:

  1. Provide a warm, dry sleeping area.
  2. Ensure your pet’s coat is clean and dry.
  3. Use reflective gear during walks in low light.
  4. Protect paws from ice and salt with booties or balms.
  5. Adjust outdoor activity times to avoid the coldest parts of the day.
  6. Use sweaters or coats for short-haired breeds.
  7. Keep fresh water available at all times.
  8. Avoid leaving your pet in a cold car.
  9. Keep antifreeze and de-icing salts out of reach.
  10. Regularly check for signs of hypothermia or frostbite.
