Peanut butter and honey dog biscuits
For the Dog Treats
- whole wheat flour 300 grams
- peanut butter 270 grams (see note regarding choosing the a peanut butter that is not poisonous to your dog)
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 large egg
- 230ml water
For the Frosting
- 2 tbsp peanut butter
- 1tbsp honey
- cornstarch 35g
- 4tbsp hot water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180c and line a baking tray with baking parchment.
- In a large bowl, mix the flour and the egg. Add the peanut butter, water, and honey, and stir until you have a stiff dough. The dough should now be a very firm and sticky consistency.
- lightly flour your surface, roll out the dough about ½-inch thick and use a cookie cutter to make whatever shape biscuit you would like to make.
- Bake for up to 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Once baked, set them aside on a cooling rack to cool
- To make the frosting, combine the peanut butter and honey in a microwavable bowl, and heat in the microwave for 10 seconds each time, stirring in between, until melted.
- Add the cornstarch to a bowl and add the peanut butter mixture, mix until well combined.
- Add the water into the frosting mix, one tablespoon at a time. The more water you add the thinner the frosting consistency will be.
- If you are a dab hand with a piping bag, add your frosting mixture into the piping bag and decorate away.
- For an even easier option, if you do make the frosty quite thin you should be able to drizzle over the biscuits with a spoon.
